Eight Foods To Improve Your Eyesight

There are many ways to improve your eyesight like exercising your eyes, taking frequent breaks (the  20-20-20 rule). While all of these will lead to better vision and increased eye strength, still the best way to improve your eyesight is through the foods you eat.

According to a list put together by Sarah Brooks (published on www.sheknow.com here are 8 foods to improve eyesight :

·         Green Vegetables: Packed with vitamins A, B12, C and calcium. Your best bet is to eat as many leafy greens per day as possible like spinach, collard greens, broccoli and kale.

·         Eggs: Protein content of eggs is beneficial to the lens of your eye. The yolk is equally good for you as it helps prevent eye diseases as you age.

·         Garlic: It’s really a super food, garlic helps protect the lens of the eye and can help protect against cataracts and eye disease as you age.

·         Carrot: Carrots contain beta carotene, which is good for the retina and protects against sun damage.

·         Fish: Fish contains healthy omega-3 fatty acids, which are found in the retina.

·         Nuts:  Though they don't contain as much Omega-3s like fish does, they've been known to help reduce dry eyes and eye disease as you age. So stock up on almonds, cashews and peanuits.

·         Avocados: Contains more Lutein than any other fruit, which improves eyesight by reducing your chances of cataracts and other eye diseases.

·         Dark chocolate: Ummmm. Dark chocolate is good for your vision! It contains flavonoids that protect the blood vessels in your eyes.
