Eye Injuries From Paintballs



Dr. Kyle Alliman of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine said, “High-velocity paintballs can cause tremendous damage to the eye and can lead to surgery”.

Getting hit with a paintball can cause severe and devastating eye injuries, especially when goggles aren't worn, say ophthalmologists, who add that informal games are when damage is more likely. "Unfortunately, visual loss is often permanent."

The American Journal of Ophthalmology, Alliman and his colleagues reviewed 36 cases of paintball injuries to the eye that were treated at the institute between 1988 and 2005 in February.

How To Prevent The Spread Of Pinkeye



Pinkeye is usually caused by a virus or by bacteria. Common symptoms of pinkeye are eye redness (hyperemia), swollen and red eyelids, crusty eyelashes on waking, more tearing than usual, feeling as if something is in the eye etc. It is also called conjunctivitis.

Here are some precautions which can help you from the infection of pinkeye.

·      Wash Hands
·      Don not share eye medicine
·      Be careful with contact lenses
·      Take care with eye makeup
·      Do not share towels, linens, handkerchiefs
·      Wear eye protection
