Routine Eye Test Revealed Golf Ball Sized Tumour

Chris Dyer recently reported on the Essex Chronicle about a 41-year old lady, Carol Cross, who had gone for a routine eye examination after symptoms of slightly blurred vision. The concerned optometrist referred her to the Broomfield Eye Hospital, where an MRI scan showed a mass around 3 cm x 3cm.

Mrs. Cross was then referred to St Bartholomew's Hospital where she was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour and underwent surgery, lasting for more than two hours.

This is what Carol Cross had to say about the entire experience:  "People don't realize just how important eye test(s) are. I would advise anyone to make sure that they get their eyes checked on a regular basis. I'll be making sure the entire family keeps all of its appointments in the future”.
