Sunburn and Eye Pain or Vision Problems

The eyes are very sensitive to sunlight. Sun burning your eyes can cause damage to the light-sensitive membrane that covers the inside of the eyeball (retina) or damage to the lens (which can eventually cause cataracts).

You might also have pain, more tearing, and a gritty feeling in your eyes if they have been sunburned. These symptoms usually begin several hours after being in the sun. If these symptoms do not go away, an evaluation by a doctor is needed.

Here are symptoms which indicate the vision problems from sun exposure:

·      Partial or complete vision loss.
·      Burning pain.
·      A feeling that something is in your eye.
·      Decreased vision.
·      Photophobia.

You should take a step before it’s too late to protect your vision from sun exposure. Sunglasses are the best thing for eyes because they block the UV rays. Keeping your eyes healthy and vision clear is very important.

For more details you can read the original article about Sunburn and Eye Pain and Vision Problems by Primary Medical Reviewer: William H. Blahd Jr. MD. FACEP and Specialist Medical Reviewer: H. Michael O’Connor, MD.  Published on webmd.com

It’s important to have regular vision screening performed on a consistent basis. You can get an appointment and schedule an eye exam with a 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore Independent Optometrist in Florida.
