Google contact lens helps diabetics

After the introduction of Google Glasses, Google is known for having an eye on innovation and now is brining innovation to the eye with a smart contact lens.

While the product is still in early stage of development, the crazy engineers at Google X Lab have come up with a contact lens that will measure the glucose level of a person in real time.

Approximately 26 million Americans—or 8 percent of the US population—could benefit from Google’s smart contact lens project, announced late last week. The contact lens features a tiny blood glucose monitoring sensor and a barely-there antenna that’s thinner than a single strand of hair to monitor and report critical bio data for diabetes patients.

Google is now testing prototypes contact lenses and how they can be best used but if these lenses get successful then they may help diabetics say goodbye to painful needles that they have to use several times a day to successfully monitor their blood glucose level.
