EYEGLASSES: WEARING AND HANDLING

20/20Eyeglass Superstore® hopes you have found our series on how to take care of your eyeglasses helpful.  Here are someadditional tips on maintaining eyeglasses:

·         Always rinse your glasses off with water before wiping or cleaning them. Even tiny particles of dust or dirt can settle on your lens, and if you wipe those around on a dry lens, it can be abrasive.

·         If you can, allow your glasses to air dry. This is another great way to keep any materials from getting on to your lens. If you can't set them down to air dry, wipe them down with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth.

·         Hold your frames by gripping the piece that crosses the bridge of the nose. This will keep you from accidently bending the frame while you clean. Bent glasses can negatively affect the way you see out of your glasses. Plus, if your frames are bent out of shape, they're more likely to feel uncomfortable.

·         Washing your glasses at least once a day will keep your lenses in their optimal state. The cleaner your glasses, the less your eyes have to strain to see through smudges, dirt and dust.

EYEGLASSES: WEARING AND HANDLING

Continuing in our series on how to take care of your eyeglass lenses and frames, 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore® would like to share excerpts from an article on http://www.opticaldirect.com.au/help/glassesCareGeneral.pge.

Here are some tips on how to care for your glasses to keep them functioning as well as possible and to extend their lives.

Do not wear your glasses on top of your head. This can weaken or crack the frames. Also it could affect the optical alignment of your spectacles resulting in impaired vision.

Take them off with two hands instead of one. This keeps the earpieces straight and in the right alignment.

Do not leave glasses hung on the neck via a spectacle cord when not in use because the lenses are then subject to frequent impact and scratch when the glasses swing and hit the surrounding objects.

Always lay your glasses with lens surface face up on a steady surface to avoid scratches, or inside a case when not in use.
If you’re looking for a new pair of prescription glasses, or are considering designer glasses, at 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore® Winter Park you can choose from over 4000 frames. We pride ourselves to have A Frame for Every Face and A Price for Every Budget®.  Hope to see you soon.

CARING FOR EYEGLASS LENSES AND FRAMES

20/20Eyeglass Superstore® hopes that you found our previous series on contact lenses helpful.  We strive to keep you updated on various eye health news, when to consult an optometrist, etc. Continuing in this endeavor, today we’re starting a series on how to take care of your eyeglasses.

Given the cost of eyeglasses and the amount of time for which most people keep a prescription pair, it’s important to care for them properly. Here are a few tips on taking care of both the lenses and the frames.

·         Use a micro-fiber cloth specifically designed for eyeglasses. Don’t use just anything to wipe your glasses dry.
·         Soap and warm water makes an effective cleaning duo. You can also use a commercial eyeglass cleaner.

Proper Care for Eyeglass Frames:
·         Don’t store your glasses in extreme heat or extreme cold.
·         Use a hard-cover glasses case.
·         Frames are likely to get loose from regular wear. In order to prevent slippage you can tighten the arms with a tiny screwdriver.  If you’re in the Florida area, then you can drop in any of our 3 locations and let us fix your frames.

Eye Makeup and Contact Lenses

Getting makeup in your eye is annoying. But it's even worse with contacts, because it can stick to the lenses instead of flushing right out.

To keep your eyes looking and feeling good follows these steps:

  • ·         Put your contact lenses on before applying makeup. And always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your contacts.
  • ·         To remove eye makeup, wash and dry your hands. Then remove your contacts, being careful not to bump them into any makeup.
  • ·         Don't use old eye makeup, because over time bacteria will get into the product and then into your eyes, where it can cause an infection.
