Blurry vision

Blurry vision is the loss of sharpness of eyesight, making objects appear out of focus and hazy.
The primary causes of blurred vision are refractive errors — nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism — or presbyopia. But blurry vision also can be a symptom of more serious problems, including a potentially sight-threatening eye disease or neurological disorder.

Blurred vision can affect both eyes, but some people experience blurry vision in one eye only.

To read the original article visit on allaboutvision.com.

A qualified eye doctor can measure the extent of your blurred vision and determine the cause with a comprehensive eye exam, including spatial contrast sensitivity, slit-lamp and standard Snellen eye chart tests.

Sudden blurry vision that persists could be a sign of a serious health problem, and you should see a doctor immediately.

20/20 Eyeglass Superstore hopes that the above article inspires you to get an eye exam done at the earliest.  You can visit your nearest 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore in Florida or contact us online to make an appointment with our in-house independent optometrist. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Exercise For Glaucoma Patients

Exercise with some limits is believed to be beneficial for glaucoma patients. In most cases exercise is good for glaucoma patients if performed properly.  Although there are a few exceptions, some research supports the benefits of moderate exercise for glaucoma patients.  The exercise should be moderate and not extreme since there is now research showing extreme exercise creates large amounts of free radicals within the body, which can have its own set of problems. Current treatment for glaucoma strives to lower intraocular fluid pressure (IOP) within the eye using eye drop medicine, laser procedures or specialized glaucoma procedures.

For more information you can read the original article by clicking here.

Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve and anything that helps the optic nerve can help a glaucoma patient.  The optic nerve requires sufficient blood flow to maintain proper function and avoid neuronal degeneration.
Few things you should keep in your mind while exercising.
·      Exhale during periods of maximum exertion such as when lifting weights.
·      Yoga and Pilates participants must be extremely careful and will need to limit their scope of movements.
·      Avoid all inverted positions including headstands and inversions for back relief.

It’s important to have regular vision screening performed on a consistent basis. 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore is a family operated business with three shops throughout central Florida.  Our number one goal is to become your reliable source for eye care, glasses and contacts.  Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us anytime.

3-D Movie Changed Man’s Sight

According to Bruce Bridgeman, as reported by Elizabeth Landau on CNN, he saw greater depth after watching the film "Hugo" last year. During the movie, Bridgemen said he "kept annoying" his wife "with my explanations of how vivid the whole 3-D experience was."

For most of his life, Bruce had poor depth perception. His eyes pointed outward and did not allow him to see, in stereo, a single image with both eyes.

But in February 2012, something changed when he went to a movie theatre with his wife. He put on a pair of 3-D glasses to watch the film "Hugo" and, to his amazement, the characters and scenery in this film jumped out at him in greater stereo vision than he had experienced before.

What's more, after returning the glasses and leaving the theater, Bridgeman's perception of the real world was enhanced as well. A lamppost jumped out from the background, and the trees, cars and people looked somehow more vivid. This was the world with depth. Bridgeman was "euphoric."
"Suddenly, things began to jump out at me," said Bridgeman, a professor of psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

The effect has stuck around since he saw the movie 16 months ago.
It's impossible to prove scientifically that the film itself altered his visual system, but his hope is that his story could help others with similar eye conditions who struggle through months of training to attempt to see more vividly.

Other experts say the vivid 3-D movie could have indeed jolted Bridgeman's visual system in this way, but that it wouldn't work as a quick fix for most people with eye alignment problems. It's possible with Bridgeman's unique set of circumstances, it was exactly what he needed, but it would probably help few people.

The human eye is an amazing organ that most of us rely on every waking moment of the day. Here at 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore, our main goal is to keep you up-to-date on everything related to eye care and eye health.

Stye

According to Wikipedia, an external stye is an infection of the sebaceous glands of Zeis at the base of the eyelashes, or an infection of the apocrine sweat glands of Moll. External styes form on the outside of the lids and can be seen as small red bumps. Internal styes are infections of the meibomian sebaceous glands lining the inside of the eyelids.

Styes are similar to chalazia, but tend to be of smaller size and are more painful and usually produce no lasting damage. They contain water and pus and the bacteria will spread if the stye is forcefully ruptured. Styes are characterized by an acute onset and usually short in duration (7–10 days without treatment) compared to chalazia that are chronic and usually do not resolve without intervention. Styes are usually caused by staphylococcus aureus bacterium.
The first sign of a stye is a small, yellowish spot at the center of the bump that develops as pus expands in the area.

Styes are commonly caused by the blocking of an oil gland at the base of the eyelash. Although they are particularly common in infants, styes are experienced by people of all ages. Styes can be triggered by poor nutrition, sleep deprivation, lack of hygiene, lack of water, and rubbing of the eyes.
